Both the size and reach of Team Broken Earth have been expanding. We will always have a firm commitment to Haiti and have recently expanded to help other places in need. Our goal is continue bringing education and vital healthcare to those who need it most.
In the fall of 2016, Team Broken Earth completed its first medical relief mission to Nicaragua. In addition, we’ve partnered with the Lions Club to hold an eye clinic as part of their international vision outreach. In December, 2017, we expanded our education focus to deliver a trauma course in Nicaragua.
Team Broken earth first went to Guatemala in 2016 to assess medical needs to better inform future missions. Current and future missions are underway and being planned and will include teams from Calgary and Vancouver.
In Dhaka, Bangladesh, our team assessed the best way to help the region was through education. In January 17, 2017 we provided women’s health courses to over 80 OBGYN doctors and nurses and helped with the Government of Bangladesh’s focus on nursing. We’ve also partnered locally with the SAJIDA Foundation and are currently supporting their efforts to provide help to the Rohingya people in Bangladesh.
Our first mission to Nepal was a humanitarian response after the devastating earthquake in 2015. Much like Haiti, the greatest need was both medical supplies and professionals to address the immediate crisis. In February, 2017 we partnered with the Lions Club in Nepal to perform 509 cataract surgeries.
