Team Ottawa: Duquesa, Dominican Republic June ‘25

For the very first time, Team Ottawa will be travelling to Duquesa, Dominican Republic, from June 14 – 21, 2025, to bring primary medical care to people who have been forced to survive without it.

In partnership with Community Empowerment and RUSH University, our team of volunteers from Ottawa and Newfoundland will be working directly with families living near the Duquesa Landfill – one of the largest landfills in the world. This area is home to a large population of Haitian migrants, many of whom live in extremely challenging conditions with little to no access to health care.

Throughout the week, we’ll be offering essential medical support to a community that has been overlooked for far too long. This is a mission rooted in compassion, equity, and the belief that access to health care should never depend on where you live.

Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
